About ULTRV

ULTRV is a minimalist blogging platform built by a small independent team. It exists because most blogging tools forgot what blogging was supposed to be — and because the people running it wanted somewhere to write that didn't feel like a marketing channel.

The product is intentionally small. A clean editor. A publish button. A real URL. Fast pages. Eighty-four themes. A terminal client for people who'd rather not open a browser. That's most of it.

How long we've been at it

The first public release was February 2026. It shipped with multiple blogs per account, a rich text editor, drafts, tags, static pages, a REST API, two-factor authentication, custom domains, WordPress import, and 28 themes.

What came after, in order: analytics that store no IP addresses, full-text search, dark mode, code injection, a subdomain and wildcard SSL for every blog, color palettes and font pairings, theterminal client, typed pages (albums, recipes, bookshelves, guestbooks, now pages), CV pages, a web ring, five import connectors, whole-blog export, and a rebuilt theme picker that took the count to 84. What "small independent team" means

It means there are no investors, no board, and no growth targets. ULTRV is funded by the people who use it:one paid plan at $5 a month, and a free tier that includes a .ultrv.blog subdomain and a custom domain at no extra cost, with no credit card. There is no advertising revenue to protect, so there is nothing pulling the product toward engagement.

It also means support is a person reading email, not a ticket queue. That is a real limit as much as a feature: we answer, but not instantly.

What we won't do

These aren't features we might add later. They're things we've committed to not doing:

• No ads, ever.Not on your blog, not in the editor, not in emails. Reader-supported writing should look like writing.
• No third-party trackers on published blogs.No Google Analytics, no pixel scripts, no reader-side telemetry. Your readers aren't measured. The marketing site you're reading now does use cookieless analytics — theprivacy policyspells out exactly which, and why blogs are different.
• We won't sell to ad-tech.If ULTRV is ever acquired, it won't be by a company that monetizes attention. That's a commitment, not a hope.
• Your data is portable, free, forever.You can export every post, every page, every image at any time. If you decide to leave, your writing comes with you. There is no "premium export."

What's open

The CLIis open source — you can read it, build on it, fork it. It's written in Rust, and Arch Linux users can install it from the AUR asultrv-bin. The platform itself isn't open source, and we don't plan to change that. We'd rather say so plainly than imply otherwise.

Where this fits
